When should you replace your seatbelt?

A cut as small as 5mm can reduce the effectiveness of your seat belt by half. That could be enough to make it ineffective in a crash.

The performance of seat belts deteriorates with age as well as use.

Seat belts must be replaced that are old or worn, or when a vehicle has been in an accident. It is easy for an operator or driver to damage a belt with constant use, in and out of a vehicle during operation.

Use this Seat Belt Safety Checklist from APVS to ensure that the webbing strength, stitching, and retractor operation of the seat belts and fittings in your vehicle is adequate.
