After an incredible 44 years with TRT, Robert “Floody” has hung up the tools and has headed towards a well-earned retirement.
Starting as a Fitter and Turner apprentice hired by Dave Carden back in 1981, Floody has been a rock in the TRT team - one of the most respected and skilled mechanical engineers we've had the privilege of working with.
From helping establish TRT in Australia alongside TRT's Managing Director Bruce Carden, to being a key figure in setting up our Brisbane branch, Floody’s impact has been immense.
Recently we celebrated his legacy with a fantastic BBQ send-off, sharing speeches, stories, and plenty of laughs with VIP guests Dave and Jenny Carden.
Floody has rebuilt hundreds of transmissions over the years
Bruce, Dave, and Floody himself took a trip down memory lane, and to top it off, Bruce presented him with a well-deserved travel voucher for him and his wife, Michelle.
Plus, longtime mates Duke Cubis and Zane Bodiam gifted a special 3D-printed transmission (crafted by Gary Webber) as a tribute to the hundreds he rebuilt over the years.
TRT's Managing Director, Bruce Carden reflects, "Floody has been an essential part of TRT for so many years. We’ve worked closely together for a long time, and it’s hard to put into words just how much he’s contributed to the company. His hard work, skill, and loyalty have shaped TRT in ways I’ll always be grateful for. Floody, you’ve earned every moment of this retirement, and I wish you all the best in the years ahead. Thank you for everything you’ve done for us."
Floody, it’s been an absolute honour. Your skills, knowledge, and character will be truly missed. Enjoy retirement – you’ve earned it!
